Leaf and flower preservation

I collect leaves and flowers (mostly leaves). I started in Spring of 2022 by taping leaves into my sketchbooks. That was fun, but I eventually decided that I wanted to preserve my leaves in a way that was easier to share with others. So in September, I started laminating pages of leaves and adding them to a binder. Winter has put a damper on continuing my collection for the past few months, but with Spring around the corner, I’m excited to get back into the process in full force.

Not only is my binder of leaves a fun thing to flip through, it is also a great resource for including foliage in my illustration work. I happen to be working on a coloring book project involving line-drawn versions of these pages.

@artfimbel The wildflowers are blooming and the leaves are growing. I went to the park to collect some foliage. If you don’t know, I save these flowers and leaves and laminate them. πŸ’›πŸŒΏ #traditionalart #flowerstagram #flowerpressing #flowerpreservation #flowerart #smallartist #smallartaccount ♬ Here Comes the Sun - JJ Heller
@artfimbel This is how I make my laminated leaf and flower sheets! If you have a question about any of my steps, let me know! This is of course a 20 minute process shrunken down to about 20 seconds, so yah know. #smallartist #smallartaccount #albanynyartist #albanyny #flowerpreservation #flowerpressing #leafpressing #traditionalart #flowerart #natureart #natureartist ♬ Where The Skies Are Blue
